Five Fun Spring Color Combos

Butter + Pea + Cobalt

Inspired by: blue mesh flats I bought from Camper last spring.

The color combo that sparked this letter! Put this look together on the first 60+ degree of the year. I built the look around the shoes because it was the first time I was able to wear them since last fall.

Coming out of what felt like one of the coldest winters we’ve had in years, NYC is finally hitting 60 degrees, occasionally. I was recently inspired to pull my cobalt blue mesh flats from the back of my closet, as my toes rightfully haven’t seen the light of day in months. I styled an outfit from the shoes up, opting for muted spring colors to let the blue have the spotlight.

Pastels are an obvious choice, but combined can quickly melt into saccharine candy sweetness. A bold hit of blue sharpens the look, adding a striking jolt to break up Easter egg hues.

Camper didn’t bring back the Casi Myra in this same shade of bright blue this year, but they do have some fun new colorways for 2025. I got so much wear out of these all last year that I’m eyeing a second pair. Super comfy, NYC walker approved. But be warned - like any mesh shoe, your feet will get dirty… Do with that what you will.

Warm Brown + Icy Purple

Inspired by: Carrie Anne Moss at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards

Does anyone have an ID on this dress? I couldn't find any leads!

There’s something magical and effortless about celebrity style from the days before the Red Carpet Industrial Complex. While Moss likely had some assistance getting ready, this look is so pared down from the event style we see today. Her hair and makeup look like she could have done it herself, and there’s that little strap peeking out from the neckline… was she wearing a bikini top as a bra? I can’t tell, but something about it looks out of place in such a beautifully relaxed way. The single chain, the simple heels… So fresh, so beautiful.

This combination feels like early morning in the springtime - light rain meeting loamy earth, an icy frost on barely budding branches. Brown is often relegated to fall/winter because of how effortlessly it pairs with moody hues and cold-weather prints. Try switching out the burgundies and plums for bright, blue-ish shades of purple to bring an unexpected levity for spring.

This is an exciting colorway to explore if you don’t love traditional “spring” colors. Introducing lightweight fabrics and warm weather motifs can help your look feel more in line with the season. Mix leather with wicker, mesh with cashmere, florals and plaids.

Shades of White + Silver

Inspired by: Chanel S/S 1999 Couture

A truly ethereal collection by (unfortunately) Karl Lagerfeld. Mermaid meets ghost bride.

I’m obsessed with an all-white look year around - I often wear the exact same pieces 12 months of the year, just styled seasonally. Winter whites call for a dark blush of crimson, while summer whites pair perfectly with glimmering shades of bronze and gold. But for spring? I suggest a ghostlier approach.

Chanel’s 1999 S/S Couture collection showcased a dreamlike lineup of floaty chiffon, high-shine satins, and shimmering silver. The effect is haunting, cool but chilly, exactly how a cold spring night feels after the warmth of the afternoon sun disappears. This collection mixes varying shades of ivory, beige, pale grey, and eggshell, creating a shadowy effect not unlike a filter. Pre-filters.

I created an inspired look using pieces I already have, so the bottom half was more of a stark white than the runway vibe. I’ve been really into the idea of carrying two purses lately. I have a huge collection of highly impractical vintage bags, so layering allows me to carry something silly like antique chainmail without sacrificing my phone, wallet, and keys.
